Sarasota Memorial First Physicians Group is a successful, multi-specialty group with over 600 physicians and Advanced Practice Providers and a long-standing history in the Sarasota community. We are seeking to employ a BE/BC Cardiovascular Surgeon to join an established and high-quality Cardiovascular Surgery program on the West Coast of Florida. Today, we are a full-service public health system, with two hospitals offering specialized expertise in heart, vascular, cancer, orthopedic and neuroscience services, as well as a state-of-the-art cancer care center and a network of outpatient services, urgent care centers, laboratories, diagnostic imaging, skilled nursing and rehabilitation among many other programs. We are also a CMS 5-Star rated hospital in Florida for its overall quality - the only hospital in Florida and one of just 52 across the nation to maintain their top rating since 2016. Highlights of the Opportunity: • Mature Cardiovascular program with a robust case mix including busy structural heart program providing over 1,400 cardiac cases a year. • Group includes 5 Cardiothoracic Surgeons. • Shared call schedule of 1:6. • There are 15 Advanced Practice Providers who assist in surgery, cover the inpatient medical floors and work in the outpatient clinic. • Average census is 70 patients a day on the inpatient service. • Clinic is 25-30 patient a day with a dedicated team of outpatient APPs, clinical and operational support staff. • Projected growth is 15%-20% every year. • Position includes all aspects of adult Cardiovascular surgery including coronary artery bypass surgery, valve surgery and aortic aneurysm repair. • SMH has four Cardiovascular surgical operating rooms and a state-of-the-art Hybrid Suite. • 10 bed dedicated CVICU with additional overflow beds. • Full data collection and participation in STS registry. • Six DaVinci robots with Xi technology and one SP robot with integrated tables • Work closely with cardiology and vascular surgery in a collaborative, collegial work environment. • Extensive referral base of physicians within First Physicians Group and the community. Required Qualifications: • MD or DO from an accredited school of medicine • Completion of a certified ABTS residency program • Board Certified or Board Eligible in Cardiothoracic Surgery. • Active or eligible for Florida medical license • Experience Level: 3 to 5 years of post-graduate experience preferred but new grads are encouraged to apply.
