Comfortable managing common titratable and/or set rate drips such as Heparin, Cardizem, Amiodarone, Nitro, Dopamine, Dobutamine, and Insulin. Description: The position involves floating between various units, including Intensive Care, MedSurg, Telemetry, and Progressive Care. Clinicians must take and pass a dysrhythmia exam within two attempts before signing the contract. Failure to score 80% in two attempts will result in a temporary disqualification. Candidates must not be employed full-time or part-time with any affiliated facility within the past year. Nurse-to-patient ratios are PCU 1:4 and MedSurg Tele 1:5-6. Common patient demographics include geriatric and orthopedic patients, as well as those recovering from cardiac procedures. Charge nurses will be present on each unit and will not take patient assignments. Nurse aids will be utilized across all settings. CPAP and BiPAP will be available for use in appropriate settings. Monitoring techs will monitor telemetry units, while registered nurses will be required to interpret strips. Scheduling is done by a designated scheduler, and is published six weeks in advance. Travelers must remain flexible with their availability. Every other weekend and holiday shifts are required, as travelers will be included in the permanent staff rotation. Standby shifts may be implemented when there is excessive staffing, with the understanding that staff can be called in if needed. Units will be assigned approximately two hours before the start of the shift via text message. Proper professional scrubs are required, with a color update expected in October. There will be an eight-hour general orientation, followed by shifts spent observing in float pool settings across various units.
